Walking Tour 5 or 4 days
Itinerary: from 6:00am (first day) to 10:00pm (4th day)
Frequency: every day
(B) = breakfast, (L) = lunch, (D) = dinner
Day 1: Cusco / Cachora / Chiquisqa (L) (D)
We pick you up from your hotel at 5:30am to begin the trip to the
town of Cachora; along the way we have some time to view the
archeological sites of Tarawasi and then the bridge of Cunyac
between the Cusco and Apurimac departments. We later pass through
the disrtrict of Curawasi and Saywite to ultimately arrive at
Cachora at approximately 10:00am.
From Cachora, we begin our trek along a relatively easy trail up the
the pass of Capuliyoc (2800 meters) and our lunch site after about 2
hours of hiking. Afterwards, we continue, descending almost the
whole way through beautiful scenery, through the town of Chiquisqa
(1930 meters) until we ultimately reach our campsite. This is
approximately 3 hours of hiking after lunch.
Day 2: Chiquisca / Marampata / Choquequirao
(B) (L) (D)
After an early breakfast at 5:00am, we continute our hike
through the fields of Rosalina (1550 meters), on the way to an
accent up to Santa Rosa (2100 meters), where we eat lunch. This is
all part of the most difficult part of the trek, for after lunch we
continue hiking up for another 3 hours to Maranpata (2850 meters).
Along the way you can appreciate majestic views of the area. We
continue on to Choquequirao, where we camp for the night.
Day 3: Choquequirao / Chiquisqa (B) (L) (D)
After another early 5:00am breakfast, we enter the archeological
complex of Choquequirao. It is approximately 1 hour of hiking to get
there. In the ruins, you will have a guided visit of roughly 3
hours, after which we begin our trek back to Chiquisca. We eat lunch
again in Santa Rosa, and then continue descending to Chiquisca where
we spend the night.
Day 4: Chiquisqa / Capuliyoc / Cachora (B)
We eat a delicious breakfast in Chiquisqa at 6:00am and then
continue hiking along the same path we took to get here, up to the
pass of Capuliyoc and then 2 hours more on to Cachora, arriving at
around 12:00pm. From here, we take you back to Cusco, arriving at
your hotel at around 8:00pm.
